WEIGHT:  All cars to weigh 2700 lb. minimum, race ready full of fuel and driver IN the car, sitting in upright position with helmet in lap or on head. Maximum left side weight allowed is 59% of total vehicle weight, before and after the race.

 

BODIES: ALL DIMENSIONS TO BE TAKEN FROM FIVESTAR AND ARP’s GUIDELINE CHART WITH DRIVER OUT OF CAR!  The new common template bodies (ABC) by Five Star and ARP are mandatory. All bodies must be either Five Star or ARP and must fit template. No mixing of manufacturers or makes. The fenders must be fully contoured fiberglass or plastic, no aluminum or steel fenders will be accepted. A stock appearing, professionally prepared race car is the primary objective of this series.  After market parts such as long quarter panels, carbon fiber roofs, hoods or other manufacturers noses are NOT LEGAL.  No square corners or flat sides. Rear bumper cover must not be altered or have the lower edge cut off.  Stock dimension windshield and rear windows are required and both must be lexan and both braced internally to prevent bowing in at speed. Hood must be stock shape and fit template (carburetor air must enter from the base of the windshield and cutout at rear of hood not larger than three inches by twenty inches). All cars must have a tow hook, chain or eye welded to the front of the car and rear deck must open to allow quick and easy pick-up by tow truck.  Body dimensions are to be in accordance with manufacturers drawings (47 in. roof ht. 4 in. nose to ground ht. 4 in. rocker panel ht. and 102 in. min. wheel base, etc.).  Spoiler can be 6 1/2 in. high and 60 in. wide max.  Spoiler is to be constructed with the upper 5 in. of clear lexan material. Spoiler angle must be between 55 degrees and 70 degrees. The width of the race car shall never exceed a maximum of 80” at any given point. In addition to the car number on the doors, a small car number (approx. 5 in.) shall be located on the right front air dam and on the right rear bumper area, this will help scorers, flag man and the spotters.  Roof numbers should be facing driver’s door. Body make and engine make may be mixed.

CAR NUMBERS / DECALS:

Numbering will be from 0 – 199. SUPERPRO hereby reserves the visor portion of the windshield and front fenders of all race cars competing in the series. SUPERPRO will have the right to require all cars to apply or display series sponsors decals on the front fenders and on the windshield or visor portion of the front windshield. Cars not displaying appropriate sponsor decals will not be eligible for contingency awards both monetary and product awards from that individual sponsor. SUPERPRO retains the property and rights of all numbers issued. 

 

CHASSIS:

Offset chassis from all manufacturers will be allowed. Perimeter chassis will also be allowed. The main frame rails must be steel, ten inches in circumference, such as 2 x 3 x .125 thick tubing or greater. Drilling holes to lighten any part of the car will not be permitted. Side rails must be located within the normal tread width of the car. Frame must have a drive shaft containment hoop front and rear. Wheel base is 102 in. min. (both sides) and tread width is 65 in. +/- I inch measured from centerline of both front tires. Frame to ground clearance is 3” in. minimum. Drilling holes in frame or body to lighten weight is prohibited. Stock front sub (frame rails and cross member must be stock) cars will be allowed with a 50 pound weight break. Aftermarket lexan rub rails will be allowed.

 

WHEELS AND TIRES:

All wheels must be steel and designed for racing. 15 inch diameter and I0 inch width maximum. The approved series tire is the American Racer EC 21 (left) and EC 31 (right). A MAXIMUM OF SIX TIRES MAY BE PURCHASED ON SUPERPRO’S OPENING NIGHT OF RACING. ALL TIRES MUST BE PURCHASED FROM THE SUPERPRO SERIES AND SERIAL NUMBERS WILL BE RECORDED. A MAXIMUM OF TWO TIRES MAY BE PURCHASED AT EACH EVENT. FIRST TIME COMPETITORS OF THE SERIES AFTER THE OPENING EVENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE A MAXIMUM OF TWO TIRES and WILL BE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE TWO USED TIRES THAT WERE USED IN A PREVIOUS SUPERPRO EVENT. DAMAGED TIRES MAY BE REPLACED AT THE DESCRESION OF SUPERPRO OFFICIALS. Tire relief’s (bleeders) will not be allowed. Tires may not be altered by chemicals or by any other means (this is grounds for disqualification). Tires can be tested at any time. All cars must start race with the same tires they qualified on and all tires purchased must be used the same day during last practice session, qualifying and race event. All tires will be inspected and marked before the final practice session. All tires being used for that evening must be kept out in plain view of all competitors. Tire Soaking is prohibited! Any competitor suspected of soaking tires will have their tires impounded and sent for testing, by the tire manufacturer. If found to be in non-compliance you will be fined the cost of the test and not be allowed (suspended) to compete for a minimum of four races. "When presenting the car for inspection, they must have the series legal tire on the car. No exceptions."

 

Each competitor must declare and register two (if they plan to buy 2 new tires for the next race) or four (if they plan on not purchasing any tires the next race) tire serial numbers with SUPERPRO officials after each race for the tires they will race at the following event that they participate in.

 

BATTERY:  Battery must be securely mounted to a mainframe rail member outside the driver compartment, separated from the fuel cell. All cars must have battery ON/OFF switch. Switch must be mounted in clear view for safety workers.

 

ENGINE:

The engine used in the series will be the G.M. 410 horsepower crate engine, part number 88958604 OR the FORD crate engine, part number M-6007-D347SR. DODGE crate engine, part number P5007958. All engines will be sealed by the manufacturer and or by a certified SUPERPRO engine builder. Any team found to have tampered with engine seals will be subject to suspension from competition with the SUPERPRO SERIES. SUPERPRO Series officials reserve the right to impound and or replace any competitors crate motor at any time. Any engine found altered and deemed illegal will be confiscated by the series. Engine must be mounted eleven (11) inches min. center of crankshaft to ground. ALL Engines will be mounted in car with #1 spark plug three and a half (3.5) +/- .5 inches behind left front upper ball joint. After market engine damper allowed - must be SFI approved with SFI sticker attached. Oil coolers are ALLOWED. GM motors will be allowed to use 1.6 rocker arms - GM part # 12370839 or Comp Cam part # 1016-16 only and the upgraded valve spring and retainer kit. All Ford engines must run the 1.5 rocker arms.

 

CARBURETOR:

The carburetor will be a 650 cfm Holley 4150 HP P/N 80541-1. All carbs may NOT be altered in anyway. They must remain stock, out of the box. All parts must remain original except for the jets. Any carb that is rebuilt must be certified through SUPERPRO officials. Proof of use of a rebuild kit must be made available to the SUPERPRO technical department. Only a Holley rebuild may be used.  Holley part number must be plainly visible on side of carb bowl." SUPERPRO officials reserve the right to exchange any competitors’ carburetor at any time. No carburetor spacers or drop in spacers (other than GM motors) allowed. Carburetor must be securely fastened to the intake manifold with only one (1) singular .0625 (1/16th) or smaller flange gasket allowed between the carburetor and intake manifold.  NO EXCEPTIONS. The right front mounting bolt or stud must have a 3/32 (or larger) hole drilled through it for carb sealing purposes. A one inch carburetor spacer for the Chevrolet engine only is available from the SUPERPRO Series.

 

IGNITION:

MSD Ignition Box 6 AL will be allowed and will be mounted out of the drivers reach. A 6300 rpm rev limiting chip will be inserted and secured by SUPERPRO officials at each race. There will be NO tampering with the chip after it is sealed by SUPERPRO officials. SUPERPRO officials reserve the right to exchange any competitor’s ignition box at any time. ASALMS approved Crane ignition system with a 6300 prm rev limiter will also be allowed. All boxes must be accessible in dash area and out of reach of driver. All chips must be facing to rear of car. NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

EXHAUST:

All cars must have working mufflers and must pass the respective speedway’s noise rule. Cars that do not meet this requirement will not be allowed to compete in the event. Exhaust must exit under car behind driver and/or out the passenger side door.

 

FUEL:

All fuel must pass all appropriate fuel tests required by series.  No electric fuel pumps will be allowed. No fuel lines routed through drivers compartment. No oxygenizing agents allowed. We reserve the right to take fuel samples for analysis. Fuel cells are required to have two, one-inch wide minimum, steel straps, top and bottom. Fuel cells must be mounted (10) ten inches minimum from the ground (race ready), ALL (4) four SIDES MEASURED. Fuel cell must be securely fastened to the framework, NO MOVING PARTS. Post race (after event) inspection tolerance will be 1/4th (.250) to ½th (.500) inch.  Maximum capacity of fuel cell is 22 U.S. gallons. No pressure type fuel systems or refueling systems are permitted. Fuel cells are mandatory, complete with min. 18 gauge steel enclosing container (no aluminum permitted) and integral foam filled bladder. Dry break systems will be allowed. If dry break system is not used, fuel cell must have a secure, screw type cap accessible only by opening rear deck lid. Deck lid must open on all cars.

 

TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE TRAIN:

Transmissions will be allowed from any manufacturer and must be available for purchase by any competitor for a maximum of $2000.00. (Racer listed price.) Transmission must be automotive type unit and a working reverse gear is mandatory. All cars must have a working on board starter. No independent rear suspension permitted, and no open tube rear ends allowed.  Clutch disks may not be smaller than 5.5 inches. (With the exception of internal clutch style transmissions.)  No carbon fiber clutches, brakes or drive shafts. Bell housing must have minimum 2 ½ inch hole at bottom (to allow clear view of clutch). Quick-change rear ends allowed. Ford 9 inch rear ends are allowed. Rear end tubes may be cambered 1.5-degree maximum. No titanium or magnesium parts of any kind will be allowed.  If a driver is found to be shifting that driver will be subject to a one (1) lap penalty. No automatic transmissions will be allowed. Rear end center sections will be the only exception to the no magnesium rule. Transmission coolers are allowed. Hub pins must be steel.

 

BRAKES:

Only ferrous material rotors will be allowed. No re-circulators allowed. Brake calipers will be allowed from any manufacturer as long as they are available for purchase by any competitor for a maximum of $300.00. (Racer listed price.)          

 

SHOCKS:

Shocks will be allowed from any manufacturer as long as they are not equipped with reservoirs and are available for purchase by any competitor for a maximum of $300.00. (Racer listed price.) SUPERPRO OFFICIALS MAY PURCHASE SHOCKS FROM ANY COMPETITOR FOR $ 300.00.  A list of eligible shocks will be announced.

 

IN CAR RADIOS:

In car radios will be MANDATORY. Spotters will be required for every car and event (including hot laps) and attend all pre-race meetings and perform all necessary functions during the race in designated area. ALL TEAMS ARE REQUIRED TO FURNISH SUPERPRO OFFICIALS WITH TEAMS RADIO FREQUENCY.

 

MIRRORS:

Mirrors mounted “ inside the race car “ are allowed. All mirrors must be mounted in a safe location inside the race vehicle. No outside mirrors. ONBOARD COMPUTER AND ANALYSIS EQUIPMENT:

These are not allowed at anytime, and if found you will be subject to penalties.

 

SAFETY REGULATIONS:

All competing cars must have a four point roll cage structure constructed of 1 3/4 in. min. outside diameter D.O.M. steel tubing with the entire structure integrally welded to the primary frame structure. Roll cage shall have a min. of four horizontal driver’s side door bars. Roll cage structure shall be braced to front frame stub with a hoop section surrounding the engine compartment, and rearward with diagonal members connecting to rear frame section. Bottom bay of car in cockpit section must have 'X' member or equivalent spanning laterally between mainframe members. The driver’s seat shall attach via aircraft quality hardware to a sub structure attached to the roll cage and primary frame members. Foot well area of driver’s compartment shall be protected from side impact by a sub structure running from the left front main roll cage upright to left side frame integral with frame and roll cage members. A designed for racing, five point restraint system for drivers is mandatory, including minimum three inch wide lap belt, shoulder harness, and crotch straps with a central release, and metal to metal fastener. All seat belts must be no older than three years old. Two vertical bars to protect drivers’ feet are mandatory. Seat belts will be checked as part of safety inspection with three-year maximum age allowance. Drivers are required to wear Nomex or equivalent driving suit at all times including fire retardant gloves and socks. Nomex underwear and fire retardant driving shoes are strongly recommended. Driver must have a helmet conforming to Snell Foundation SA-2000-SFI 31 standards or exceeding. Eye protection is required at all times. All cars must carry on board fully charged mounted fire extinguisher of B or C dry chemical type, 2 1/2 pounds minimum capacity. Fire extinguishers and systems must be visable and accessible to drivers and safety crews. Automatic on board fire extinguisher systems are strongly recommended. Drivers side window net with a quick release mechanism are mandatory. Main side window openings (driver and passenger) may have vent windows between the windshield pillar and the door no wider than (9) nine inches measured from the base of the windshield pillar backwards along the top of door.  Passenger window opening must maintain at least (15) fifteen-inch by (23) twenty-three inch opening. All crews must have a 2 1/2 lb. or larger fire extinguisher in their pit area at all times, a can of oil dry is also recommended. All lead on the car must be painted white and have the car numbers painted on it.  All lead must be solid block type. No bb’s or liquid type weight allowed. All lead must be securely bolted to or enclosed inside the frame (NO HOSE CLAMPS). If you lose a piece of lead on the racetrack you will be black-flagged and replace the lead to the satisfaction of an official before returning to the track. All roll bars near the driver’s head, and the steering shaft must be covered with roll bar padding (not pipe insulation). Quick release steering wheel hubs are required, but they must be of steel construction (no plastic).  A head and neck restraint system is MANDATORY.

SPECIFICALLY NOT ALLOWED:

No operator controlled, radio controlled, computer controlled or automatic traction control devices, ignition re-tarder’s, weight transfer, weight shifting, weight jacking, or weight altering devices. No aluminum fuel cell containers, engine blocks, wheels, or plastic wheels. No Kevlar or carbon fiber period. No titanium, ceramics, or magnesium. No nitrous oxide equipment, fuel injection, supercharging, or turbo charging, No ledges, shelves, horizontal deflectors, straight sides, square corners, coffin style interiors, tub interiors, multi plane spoilers, side boards, wings, skirts, scoop noses, fins, verticals ramps, interior wings, aerodynamic tunnels, or flat roofs. No Ram Air or Hood Scoops allowed. No lead shot or liquid type ballast allowed. Brake bias control is the only “in car” adjustment permitted.   

Infractions found in pre-race inspection or after a race will be subject to appropriate penalties that can include: loss of points, cash fines and or suspension.   

The following infractions will not be tolerated, and may result in dismissal from the series.

1    Drug or alcohol abuse

2     Fighting

3     Refusal to exchange ignition box or carburetor

4     Use of traction control devices

5     Tampering with seals on Crate Engine

6     Tire Soaking

7     Refusal to exchange carburetor

8     Verbal and or physical abuse towards any official, fan, promoter, sponsor, or competitor

9     Action during competition deemed unsafe by series officials. i.e. intentionally spinning or crashing another competitor

 

TRACK PROCEDURES:

The SUPERPRO Series reserves the right to confiscate any illegal parts or parts in question. Two cautions caused by one driver will result in black flag for that driver.

 

ROOKIE ELIGIBILITY:

To be eligible for rookie status including bonuses and awards for Rookie of the Year you must have not competed in over 10 Super Late Model events. You must turn in a current driving experience resume to SUPERPRO Officials before entering your 1st race. Officials will have the final say in rookie eligibility. 

 

COMPETITION AND PROCEDURE RULES

 

I. INTRODUCTION:
A
.   It is the responsibility of car owners, drivers and crews to follow all rules and regulations contained on the web site, www.superproracing.com. Along with the SUPERPRO Series Bulletins, and the Technical manual that will be available. SUPERPRO officials are not responsible for ignorance of rules and any results that may occur because of a misunderstanding of rules. Participants are encouraged to contact Series officials if further clarification of any rules is required.

 

II.SUPERPRO SERIES and RACE REGISTRATION and PAYOFF
A. SUPERPRO Series registration of $ 50 (if paid by
April 1, 2008 - $100 after April. 1, 2008) is required for all drivers and/or cars in order to compete in the SUPERPRO Series. A one race registration fee will be available for $25. Forms and fee information can be obtained by contacting the SUPERPRO Series or going to the website at www.superproracing.com. Potential participants are urged to return forms with proper fee in a timely manner. Those requiring memberships after the start of the 2008 racing season will be provided with all relevant information and update bulletins at that point. Paid membership and proper decal placement will make race teams eligible for any and all contingency awards.

B. SUPERPRO Series race entry fee will be $ 50 per race, taken out of payoff. Payoff will be in form of a check that will be sent to the 1099 address or tax i.d. number address after each race.

 

Ill. RACING NEWS BULLETIN
A. SUPERPRO Series officials will provide a series update/racing information bulletin on a periodic basis to all Series members. This bulletin may include such information as competition/technical rule amendment and changes, event rescheduling, motel arrangements, ticket and pit pass rules and fees for associate track events, contingency programs, and any other relevant information. 

 

IV. PERSONAL CONDUCT
A.
Drivers will be held responsible for the behavior of owners, crews and any other personnel connected with that team. Penalties may be enforced against entire team for conduct infractions committed by any one member.
B. Consumption use of drugs and alcohol prior to and or during SUPERPRO Series events is strictly prohibited.
C. Verbal abuse or physical threats made to SUPERPRO officials, track employees, fans, fellow competitors, etc. by any driver, owner or crew member will not be tolerated. This will result in the appropriate penalties.
D. Unsportsmanlike conduct such as hand gestures, foul language, throwing of objects; "on track" retaliations, or visual displays of bad temper by drivers or their crews will result in appropriate penalties.
E. Fighting is strictly prohibited. A driver or crew member initiating a fight may cause the loss of points, purse/point money accumulated by his team and may result in disqualification of that team with time determined by officials.
F. Deliberate reckless behavior by drivers, crews or other team members, on track or off, which may endanger the safety of officials, track crews, or fans will result in appropriate penalties.
G. Drivers are encouraged to participate in all autograph sessions and exhibit professional and courteous behavior towards fans, series sponsors, potential sponsors or any media if present.
H. Drivers and teams should shut off engines and stop movement of cars during the playing of the national anthem and during drivers meetings.
I. Injuries incurred to drivers and crew members during the course of the racing program must be reported to track officials before leaving the premises.

 

V. PIT GATE REGISTRATION
A.
Drivers and crew members are required to sign the appropriate release and registration forms plus pay pit pass fees before being allowed into pit area. Team members are encouraged to carefully read all material before signing. Drivers and crew members are responsible for finding out about each track's rain date policies and rain check pit fee policies
B. Associate tracks may have differing pit area rules and fees. SUPERPRO Series members should be prepared to comply with these policies.

 

VI. DRIVERS MEETINGS
A.
Drivers will be notified in advance of when and where drivers meetings will occur by pit officials. Roll call will be taken.
B. Attendance at drivers meetings is mandatory. Failure to attend may result in a loss of race starting position.
C. Drivers are responsible for conveying any new or important information discussed in drivers meetings to their crews and car owners.

 

VII. DRIVER/CAR CHANGES
A.
Driver can qualify only one car per racing program.

B. A team may field a non-qualified backup or borrowed car for heat or feature events should the primary qualified car suffer mechanical problems. That driver will forfeit his starting position and will be required to start feature or heats at rear of field. SUPERPRO officials should be notified, and must approve a car change as soon as possible before start of program. Delay may cost driver a chance to compete.
C. Drivers are free to use backup or borrowed cars for time trials provided that they notify SUPERPRO officials before car takes to track to qualify. Car must have passed tech inspection.
D. Failure to notify SUPERPRO officials of driver/car change until after car has been run in time trials, heats, or feature will be cause for disqualification.

 

VIII. TECHNICAL INSPECTION

A. Cars are required to pass technical inspection to the satisfaction of SUPERPRO Series officials before that car is allowed to practice, qualify and race at each racing program. See technical rules.
B. SUPERPRO officials reserve the right to inspect or disqualify any car for any reason at any time during the racing program.

C. Once a car is presented for qualifying and/or a race event, no adjustments can be made other than air pressure.

D. For qualifying, if a car fails to meet the minimum weight or percentages, it will return to the pit area, make adjustments and re-tech. The car will go to the end of the qualifying line and receive only 1 qualifying lap. For the race, if a car fails to meet the minimum weight or percentages, it will return to the pit area, make the proper adjustments and re-tech. The car will start at the rear of the field. AT NO TIME will fuel be allowed to be added at the scales.

E. Drivers or their representatives will draw for the qualifying order. When cars are called to the scales in qualifying order for both qualifying and race, they will do so immediately. All cars will cross the scales in qualifying order or starting position. If a car fails to report to the scales before qualifying begins, it will receive only one qualifying lap. If it fails to report during pre-race tech, it will start at the rear of the field.

 

IX. HOT LAPS AND TIME TRIALS/QUALIFYING

A. Hot laps will be limited to two sessions. 10 cars maximum on the track during any hot lap session. As one car leaves the track, another may enter (if track layout allows). This procedure may be altered by speedway officials.

B. The normal procedure is to have only one round of qualifying.

C. A driver who does not meet his scheduled qualifying start will be penalized one lap.

D. The better of two (2) consecutive lap times will be the official time of that driver/car combination. 

 

X. RACE PROCEDURES

A. All feature races will be 75 green flag laps (with cautions counting up to lap 40), unless otherwise posted. 8 lap heat races may be ran (at the promoter’s option) for drivers who make the feature through qualifications. These races will be lined up by odd and even qualifying times.

B. Inversion of the feature race will be determined at drivers meeting.

C. Any driver who fails to obey the black flag for 3 consecutive laps will not be scored from that point and may face disciplinary action.

D. Any driver who fails to obey the move over flag (blue flag with diagonal stripe may be penalized or disqualified from the race.

E. After the race, the top five finishers will stop on the front stretch for victory lane ceremonies. After Victory Lane ceremonies, the top five will proceed to a designated inspection area. Drivers will be instructed as to what will be required of them at that time. All crews and drivers MUST COMPLY with official’s request. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification. Only driver and two crew members allowed in tech area.

F. TAP OUT RULE - In a situation where two cars are involved in an accident, each driver will be asked to tap the top of his car is he admits fault to the accident. If neither driver admits fault, both cars will go to the rear. If one driver is deemed at obvious fault by SUPERPRO observers, only that car will be sent to the rear.

G. All races will end under green flag conditions. If a caution flag is waved during the last lap, the field will be re aligned in the proper order of last completed lap with at fault cars sent to rear of field or “tap out” rule will be used if necessary.

 

XI. SPOTTERS RULES

A. All spotters will attend a mandatory meeting after the drivers meeting.

B. All spotters will be in spotter’s area anytime their car is on the speedway.

C. All spotter must have car number ID that is visible to SUPERPRO officials.

D. During the race, spotters are to line up in order according to car number. Only one spotter per car is allowed.

E. Abuse if the spotter’s official will not be tolerated. Anyone abusing the spotter’s official will be removed from the spotter’s area and that car will be disqualified from the race.

F. Radio or mirror driving will not be tolerated. If suspected by SUPERPRO officials, a caution will be thrown and the suspected car will be sent to the rear.

 

XII. CODE OF CONDUCT

The code of conduct applies to all drivers, owners, crew members and spotters. Drivers are responsible for their crews. Verbal or physical abuse of SUPERPRO or track officials, fans and competitors will not be tolerated. Hand gestures and/or other unsportsman like conduct in the stands, pit area or on the track will not be tolerated.

Accusations of cheating against another team will not be tolerated unless proof can be presented. If proof is presented, SUPERPRO officials will determine if said accusations warrant sanctions or penalties. If no proof is presented, accusing team will be penalized.
